Journal of Random Not-So-Personal Thoughts and Experiences

Got my hair cut for the first time in a year, but, more significantly, Eric got his cut for the first time in about 14!

I took a four-day class in Maya two weeks ago and have been working in it since. I finally have enough built in my scene that I can put some renders up here.

I'm back to learning Maya after not touching it for pretty much over a year. Also finally learning to use a Wacom tablet - hard to get used to. This is what I have so far.

Rest in peace, Pita... My folks are now cat-less for the first time in 18 years. :(

I bowed out of the latest band. I have way too many things going on, and after taking a hiatus to do traveling, I found I wasn't looking forward to picking this particular thing back up.

Five trips later, the novelty is definitely wearing off this traveling-for-business thing... This was supposedly the last trip.

Got sent on my third-ever business trip, first for this company, to take photos of computer gear in Atlantic City. No time to see the city itself, or even the beach. We stayed on the coast of a bay in a Comfort Inn that was a bit lacking in quality. Favorite sign of the trip: "Live crabs in rear".

Last day of jury duty - didn't get picked to serve. Three years till they can call on me again.

Went to NY and picked up the Z.

I've decided to take the plunge and buy my dream car. Today I drove to NY to check it out. The instant it came into view all shiny and black and beautiful, all my trepidations about buying an "unsensible" car melted away and there was no turning back. I put my deposit on it.

I can't believe it's already May!

The band split up today. Hot on its heels, another is trying to form around me; a three-month stint with a friend that's moving out of town. We'll see how that goes!

I haven't touched Maya since November. We're too busy with other stuff here at work. I'm sure I've forgotten most of what I knew by now...

I finally bought a digital camera - ordered it Monday, and it arrived today! I expect this means many more photos for this site. It's a Fuji S2.

Suddenly it feels like spring - I've been driving with the windows down for the last three days! And the weekend was gorgeous. Last night I heard spring peepers for the first time this year. This has prompted me to start keeping a naturalist journal to help me notice better and keep track of my nature observations.

Went to the World of Wheels for the first time and saw lots of very cool cars, but the high point for me was seeing the Fastforward Fastback in person and chatting with Brian from the shop that made it.

01.01.2004
Went to the Washington Auto Show for the first time and enjoyed seeing all the upcoming cars and concepts. I wish DC was a more important stop for that show; I didn't see some cars I had hoped to see there.

Another show at Angelfall Studios Gallery in Baltimore - my graphite drawings are in the show that opened today. Even though it's been a while since I drew them, I'm glad they get to be seen by the public, finally.

I'm now in training to become the resident Maya expert at work. Following a tutorial today, I made this. Next step: building a firehouse.

Lemme just say how tired I am of seeing the name of the male organ in my email, several times every day; so much so that I won't subject myself to it yet again by typing it here. Usually it's in all caps, like someone is SHOUTING it at me, as if this is perfectly acceptable behavior in everyday life and they wouldn't think anything of a stranger walking up to them and randomly shouting it at them. Do so many men REALLY have this much of a problem accepting theirs the way it is as to warrant this outpouring of snake oil solutions??

The labyrinthitis seems to be gone now, which is good - I was getting tired of dizziness.

10.22.2003
After using this site for over two years to secretly dump things I wanted to show people, I finally put up a front page so people other than those to whom I give links might actually have a chance of stumbling across its content and it could be presented in an organized manner.

07.29.2003
I went to the doctor today to discover that I have labyrinthitis! That has to be the coolest sounding name for a condition I've ever heard.

05.28.2003
My first major opening at an art gallery - not a solo show, but still a big deal for me! My colored pencil drawings were shown.
